GLOBAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE
The SOLAS® Global Education Committee defines the content of all Society-sponsored educational offerings. The Committee continuously evaluates the educational experience and educator performance to maintain the highest standards of excellence among surgeons trained within the SOLAS system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and implement guidelines and policies under which the SOLAS Education Committee will operate.
- Develop, oversee, and approve the content of all Society-sponsored training activities.
- Develop and manage budget for all educational activities.
- Create training standards and train all course faculty, assuring that those faculty strictly adhere to the established course curricula as set forth by the Committee.
- Provide to the Board an annual editorial review of all course content.
- Define and coordinate CME accreditation opportunities.
- Ensure content of education programs is consistent with recommendations set forth by the Technology Advisory Group.
- Prepare education investment proposals and recommendations to the SOLAS Board of Directors for approval.
- Create and manage a global fellowship program that complements the educational syllabi.
- Facilitate regional and global collaboration to encourage exchange and sharing of ideas and initiatives.
- Generate funding for educational specific initiatives.
