Clinical Research

A primary goal of SOLAS is to generate preclinical and clinical data on lateral approach spine surgery––and sharing that data with the surgical community through podium presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

To date, such research activity has included preclinical studies such as anatomical dissections and biomechanical construct comparisons, as well as both retrospective and prospective and single- and multi-center clinical research projects. Topics covered have included, among others, the utility of specified neuromonitoring, quantification of indirect decompression, XLIF® for various indications, fusion outcomes, clinical outcomes, comparisons with other procedures, and cost effectiveness.
